| Make Plans for the Annual Spring Outdoor
Festival May 3 at the Wehle Land Conservation Center

back to nature during the 11th Annual Spring Outdoor Festival (formerly
Plant Fest and Bird Awareness Day) on May 3, 2008, at the Wehle Land
Conservation Center near Midway, Alabama in Bullock County from 9 a.m.
until 5 p.m. The Spring Outdoor Festival is a fun and educational event
for the entire family and admission is FREE.
The Spring Outdoor Festival, sponsored by the Alabama Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources State Lands Division, features
educational exhibits and demonstrations of interest to all ages.
Activities will include wildflower woods rides, fossil collecting,
butterfly diversity, pine needle basket making, raptor biology &
conservation, draft horse plowing, gourd and pumpkin planting, syrup
cane planting, bats of our worlds, native azaleas and Bonnie Plant
varieties. Horseback riding, hiking, and biking trails will be available
along with free fishing – Alabama freshwater fishing license required –
canoeing, and picnic facilities for the whole family. Onsite vendors
will offer handcrafted goat milk soap, plants, barbeque, old fashioned
kettle corn and Audubon birds, pewter pins, t-shirts and caps, wildlife
books, limited edition turkey calls and much more from the Outdoor
Alabama Nature Shop.
The Wehle Land Conservation Center is located approximately five miles
southeast of Midway, Alabama in Bullock County on County Road 47. Take
U.S. Hwy. 82 from either Montgomery or Eufaula to Midway and follow the
