There's Something Missing This Weekend on "Kentucky
Afield" TV
|
Frankfort, Ky. – Sometimes, it’s what you don’t see that draws man and
beast together. We explore the bond between a dog, its master, the
outdoors and something lost along the way, February 23 and 24, on
“Kentucky
Afield” television.
A well-trained hunting dog has it all. Keen senses, instincts and
discipline combine to make a day in the field a success. Every dog should
be as lucky. Every dog, including Cooper. This German shorthaired pointer
is the companion of Clark County’s Mike Cole. It’s a tale of how this
owner and his blind dog have developed the kind of teamwork that more than
makes up for Cooper’s problem. “Kentucky Afield” Host Tim Farmer joins the
duo to see for himself.
Elsewhere, the fish known for Kentucky “caviar” – the paddlefish – is the
subject of an ongoing study by the fisheries division of the Kentucky
Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. We go adrift with Ohio River
Biologist Doug Henley to gather data on the population and travel habits
of the species. Aside from being one of Kentucky’s oldest and largest
fish, its snout measures nearly half its body length.
Also on the program, fishing expert Craig Hipshire leads Farmer to crappie
on Kentucky Lake, proving that even a cold day is a good day to fish in
the commonwealth.
“Kentucky Afield” is a production of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. It is the
longest continuously-running outdoor television show in the nation.
“Kentucky Afield” airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern /7:30 p.m. Central
and is repeated on Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central on KET 1.
