GO ONLINE TO APPLY FOR LIMITED QUOTA LICENSES CHEYENNE - As some hunting application deadlines draw near, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department urges prospective hunters to apply online in 2008.
The online application process, launched in January 2007, allows resident and non-resident hunters to apply online for limited quota licenses for deer, antelope, elk, moose, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, bison and turkey. Hunters can log-in using their Sportsman ID number, apply as an individual or as a party, purchase preference points and pay license and application fees using a credit card.
Residents only wanting to purchase a preference point and not apply for a license in 2008 must wait and complete the preference point only application from July 1 to Sept. 30.
"The information collected through the online application is identical to that of the paper application, and the draw process remains the same," says Jean Cole, Licenses Manager for the Game and Fish. "Deadlines for online applications are the same, with the online portal closing at 5 p.m. MST on application deadline day."
Those applying online must certify their residency using an electronic oath form and pay their fees using a Visa or Mastercard. Hunters can also donate to Access Yes and the search and rescue at checkout.
Because of the credit card payment process, Cole says once the application is submitted, it's very difficult to adjust fees, and applicants must withdraw completely and start over. She advises hunters to collect all necessary information before beginning the online application process, including double checking draw and hunt area choices and collecting all party information before logging in to the system.
For the 2008 hunting seasons, more than 10,070 applications have already been submitted online.
Nonresident elk applications and spring turkey applications are due Jan. 31. Resident and nonresident moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat applications are due Feb. 29. (Contact: Jean Cole, (307) 777-4683) -WGFD-
