Fair Hill Natural
Resource Management Area Closed to Public on January 7 & 8
ELKTON, MD —
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area in Cecil County will be
closed to the public on January 7 and January 8, 2008 for a managed
white-tailed deer hunt. DNR implements managed deer hunting programs in
certain areas to more effectively manage white-tailed deer and reduce
habitat damage.
Approximately 160 hunters obtained permits from DNR through a lottery
process to participate in the hunt. Each permit-holder may hunt with a
shotgun for one day during the two-day period and take four deer.
Licensed bow hunters will continue to have access to the area during the
managed shotgun hunt.
Fair Hill will reopen on Wednesday, January 9 for park patrons and
resume regular hours of operation from sunrise to sunset. For more
information, contact the Fair Hill office at 410-398-1246 between 9 a.m.
and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
