Urban Trout Stockings Return To
Arkansas Waters
LITTLE ROCK - The
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s wildly popular Family and Community
Fishing Program is gearing up to begin their annual trout stockings in
Arkansas.
Approximately
64,000 catchable rainbow trout have been set aside for the program and
will be stocked in 23 waters in 14 different cities around the state.
While trout stockings have already begun in a few northern Arkansas
locations, the majority of program locations are set to be stocked by Dec.
1.
Trout will be stocked each month in all locations through March, according
the AGFC’s assistant Family and Community Fishing Program coordinator
Chris Racey. “This is an excellent chance for families to enjoy some
winter fishing for a fish that loves to bite on the coldest of days and
also loves to put up quite a fight,” Racey said.
The
limit on trout in the program waters is 5 per person each day. Anglers 16
and older must have a fishing license and a trout permit to keep trout.
