SHERBURNE W.M.A. SOUTH FARM AREA REOPENS

The South Farm area of the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Iberville Parish has reopened for public use following a temporary closure.

The South Farm had been closed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) due to its close proximity to a Nov. 8 gas well blowout located near Interstate 10 at Ramah. The Louisiana State Police reopened the closed stretch of Interstate near the South Farm on Nov. 25.

Contractors on site capped the well and State Police Emergency Services determined that air quality was once again safe for the public.

The South Farm area of the Sherburne WMA is located about 1 mile north of the Ramah Exit off I-10.
