Wyoming Game & Fish

ASK THE GAME & FISH

Q. "How can I find out if you are extending the elk season?"

A. Season extensions for specific hunt areas and license types do occur - however such extensions are very infrequent. If an extension is passed into emergency regulation, the Game and Fish will announce it with news releases and through our Web site. When a rare extension does occur, it is usually in response to the potential of low harvest this season leading to winter range or private property damage. Extended seasons are almost always for antlerless elk or deer only. Just because the harvest in an area is less than desired does not mean the season will be extended. Seasons in the vast majority of areas never have extensions beyond the published regulations.
