South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Pheasant Season Shooting Hours Change Saturday PIERRE, S.D.—Pheasant hunters who take to the field on Saturday, Oct. 27, will be able to begin their quest for birds two hours earlier. On that day shooting hours start at 10 a.m. Central Daylight Time and run through sundown. In the past the change of shooting hours took place on a Sunday, the first day of the change from Daylight Time to Standard Time. That practice was changed because this year the time change doesn’t take place until early November. Hunters should note that the 2007 version of the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Department Hunting and Trapping Handbook is in error on the topic of pheasant season shooting hours. While the handbook properly lists the date of the change as Saturday, Oct. 27, it improperly lists the start time that day as 10 a.m. Central Standard Time. On that date South Dakota will still be operating under Central Daylight Time. --GFP--
