Information Sought in Uncompahgre Poaching Incident
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is seeking
information that might help solve a poaching incident on the south end of
the Uncompahgre Plateau in Game Management Unit 61 west of Montrose.
Sometime around Sept. 20 an unknown party shot a large mule deer buck,
removed the head, and left the carcass to rot. The buck was shot with a
high-powered rifle near the intersection of Dave Wood Road and Divide
Road.
The animal was killed during archery season and several bow hunters were
in the area at the time.

Tips can be provided anonymously. Anyone who provides information and is
willing to testify about the incident could receive a buck tag for Unit 61
in the future under the TIP(Turn In Poachers) program.
