Ask Fish And Game: Sage-Grouse Season

Q. Will the half-million-acre Murphy Fire in Owyhee County mean there's no sage-grouse seasons this year?

A. Idaho Fish and Game still is assessing the effects of the large range fire in southeastern Owyhee County and of West Nile virus on the sage-grouse seasons in Owyhee County. But seasons in other parts of the state open September 15. Parts of Areas 2 and 3 open September 15 and run through September 21 in Area 2, and through October 7 in Area 3. All of Area 1 is closed. The daily limit is one bird, and the possession limit is two.
