FISHING RULE CHANGE

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife

 

Sport halibut season re-opens August 24 in Marine Area 1

 

Action: Open recreational fishing for halibut in Marine Area 1 on August 24, 25 and 26, 2007.  It is unlawful to retain bottomfish, except sablefish and Pacific cod, when halibut is on board through September 30, 2007.

 

Effective date: Open 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday Aug. 26, 2007.

 

Species affected: Pacific halibut

 

Location:  Marine Area 1

 

Reason for action:  There is sufficient quota remaining to open the fishery for these additional days.  This rule conforms to federal action taken by PFMC.
