8/13/2007 Putnam Memorial State Park to Close to Public Aug. 13-17 Variety of "special uses" underway The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) said today that Putnam Memorial State Park, Redding will be closed to the public next week, August 13-17. The DEP said the park closing is necessary to accommodate a variety of "special uses" of the park. The DEP grants "special use" permits to numerous organizations to use state parks as a venue for events and activities. The DEP said the "special use" activities will limit parking and create other impediments to public use of the park during the week.
