DNR to Hold Public Meetings on Proposed Fishing Regulations for Several
Cass County Lakes.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold two public
meetings to solicit comments on proposals to implement special fishing
regulations on several northern Cass County lakes. The DNR proposes to
implement the following regulations:
· A possession limit of three walleye – Ponto, Pleasant, Lower Trelipe, and
Upper Trelipe Lakes.
· A protected size limit of 17 to 26 inches and/or possession limit of 3 for
walleye – Girl, Woman, Little Woman, Child Lakes and connecting waters.
· A possession limit 5 and/or minimum length limit of 10 inches for black
crappie – Long Lake just north of Longville.
· A possession limit of 5 sunfish – Lind (Lindsey) Lake.
The DNR will also take comment from the public as to whether to retain,
modify, or return to statewide regulation the existing experimental northern
pike 20-inch maximum size limit on Ten Mile Lake. Please note a public
meeting to solicit comments on a regulation proposal for a possession limit
of three walleye on Little Boy and Wabedo Lakes will be scheduled in
October. A notice with meeting specifics will be released prior to this
meeting.
The open house style meetings will take place at the Longville Elementary
School gymnasium from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on September 25 and 27. Comment for
Ponto, Pleasant, Lower Trelipe, and Upper Trelipe will be accepted on the
25th and for Woman, Lind, Long, and Ten Mile on the 27th. The public may
also provide input on the regulation proposals during a statewide open house
at the DNR Central Office, located at 500 Lafayette Road in St. Paul on
September 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For those unable to attend a public input meeting, written comments may be
sent to Harlan Fierstine at the DNR Area Fisheries Office, 07316 State 371
NW, Walker, MN 56484 or email at
harlan.fierstine@dnr.state.mn.us.
