ASK THE GAME & FISH

Q. "When is the best time to bowfish for carp and do I need a license?"

A. The best time is probably the second and third weeks of June when carp are spawning in the shallow parts of lakes. The heat of the day seems to be the best time. No license is required. Fish such as carp and suckers are classified as nongame fish in Wyoming and there is no limit on the number that may be taken. Game and Fish regulations allow taking nongame fish by bow and arrow, including crossbows.
