Waterfowl Applications Ready

PIERRE, S.D.–Applications for a variety of South Dakota’s waterfowl hunting seasons are now available.

The applications are available online at the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Department’s Web site, www.sdgfp.info. GFP regional offices and license agents should receive paper applications during the last week of May. A printable version of the application can also be downloaded from the GFP Web site at http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/hunting/Applications/PDFs/Waterfowl.pdf.

The application contains licensing information for the resident and nonresident tundra swan season, the resident special unit Canada goose season, the nonresident 10-day and three-day waterfowl licenses and the nonresident September goose season.

Applications for the special unit Canada goose season and the 10-day and three-day nonresident waterfowl licenses have to be postmarked by July 13. Online applications will be accepted up until 8 a.m. CDT July 17. Results should be available online by July 26.

Applications for the tundra swan seasons must be postmarked by Aug. 10. Online applications will be accepted up until 8 a.m. CDT Aug. 14 with results posted on the Web site by Aug. 17. There is no deadline for applications for the nonresident September goose season.

The tundra swan season opens on Sept. 29 and runs through the end of the light goose season. The special unit Canada goose season in Bennett County opens Oct. 20 and runs through Dec. 16. Other dates for seasons on this application will be set later in the year. All season dates will be available in the department’s Hunting and Trapping Handbook which will be available in late August or early September.
