ASK THE GAME & FISH

Q. "How can I find out when you start stocking fish this spring?"

A. The Game and Fish stocks some waters in early spring with catchable-size trout 7 - 10 inches long. Fish this size are generally stocked in lakes or reservoirs close to towns where there is fairly heavy fishing pressure. Anglers should realize that most fish stockings in Wyoming are fingerlings or subcatchable-size fish to grow to catchable sizes in following years. This means most waters always have a supply of fish available for anglers so there is no need to wait for the hatchery truck to plan a fishing trip.
