ASK THE GAME & FISH

Q. "What are the license requirements to hunt snow geese during the spring season?"

A. We assume you are referring to the Light Goose Conservation Order, which is a special regulation allowing the harvest of snow, blue and Ross’ geese during the late winter and spring. Hunters must have a valid Wyoming bird license, conservation stamp and also $10.50 Conservation Order Special Management Permit. In a departure from other waterfowl hunting, the Federal Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp (duck stamp) and Harvest Information Permit (HIP Permit) are not required during the Conservation Order season. The special season is only for the Central Flyway portion of Wyoming and runs Feb. 19-April 8. Complete regulations are found in the Late Migratory Game Bird Regulations.
