2/26/2007 HATCHERY TRAIL READY FOR VISITORS Thanks to efforts of the more than 20 volunteers, the walking trail that shadows the outflow stream at the Lake Mead Hatchery is ready for visitors. The trail rehabilitation project was organized by the Nevada Department of Wildlife but made possible by the efforts of groups like Trout Unlimited and the Las Vegas Fly-Fishing club. Volunteers not associated with a specific organization also provided a helping hand. The hatchery trail is open to the public and provides visitors with the opportunity to see birds, other wildlife and even fish while talking the easy to moderate hike. The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
