Cooney State Park Seeking Campground Hosts
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is recruiting volunteers who enjoy
Montana State Parks, being outdoors and working with people to apply to be a
campground host at Cooney State Park for the 2007 summer season.
Campground hosts primarily provide information and are vital to maintaining
positive relationships with park visitors.
In addition, hosts monitor facility use and perform light maintenance tasks.
They provide important input to facility operations and planning by
summarizing and submitting their ideas, suggestions and recommendations for
improvement of the host program, customer services and other park programs
at the end of their assignment. Hosts will receive ample orientation and
training.
Past experience in camp hosting is a plus. Applicants must be able to work
well with the public. Hosts will furnish their own camper, travel trailer
or motor home. The park provides full hook-ups and limited phone service at
a campground host site. The work schedule includes weekends and holidays
with 20 to 24 hours a week generally required to provide adequate visitor
services.
Within an hour’s drive of Billings and situated just to the northeast of the
scenic Beartooth Mountains, Cooney attracts up to an average of 200,000
visitors annually and offers a variety of activities, including fishing,
boating, water skiing, swimming, camping, and hiking.
If interested in applying for a campground host position at Cooney, please
