L.D.W.F. SETS 2007 PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULE FOR THE 2007-08 HUNTING SEASON REVIEW AND COMMENT

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced meeting dates and locations for public review and comment on the 2007-09 Resident Small Game and Deer Hunting Seasons and Regulations and 2007-08 WMA Seasons and Regulations.

Some of the proposed changes and issues for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 hunting seasons that will be discussed at the public meetings include:

· No waterfowl hunting on the Atchafalaya Delta WMA after 2 p.m.
· ATVs would be allowed to retrieve hogs and deer for all hunters on WMAs.
· Steel shot only for rails, gallinules and snipe on all WMAs.
· The deer tagging system and how it will work.
· Dog hunting on WMAs - Hunters requested the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to allow deer hunting with dogs on Maurepas Swamp WMA and similar WMAs such as Attakapas WMA.

Hunters are encouraged to attend these public meetings and express their views concerning hunting season dates and regulations.

The City of Alexandria Convention Hall is within the City Hall Building located at the intersection of Third and Murray streets.

Ferriday, Concordia Parish Community Center     
The Concordia Parish Community Center is located at 26358 Hwy. 15, south of Ferriday.

Opelousas, Yambilee Center    
Directions:  Go through Opelousas on Hwy 190 west.  When the two lane opens up to a four lane on Hwy. 190 west, the Yambilee building will be on the left.
