ASK THE GAME & FISH

Q. "I would like to apply for your wild bison priority list and hunt with archery equipment. It this allowed?"

A. Wyoming regulation prohibits hunting wild bison with archery equipment. In addition, the firearms that may be used are also more restrictive for bison, requiring a cartridge with a minimum .27 caliber and it must fire an expanding bullet of at least 150 grains with an overall cartridge length of two inches. This is larger than the .23 caliber minimum requirement for other big game species.
