The 2007 “Go Wild” Youth Art Calendar Carries a Message

RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec .27, 2006) – A new year means new calendars, and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has published one that showcases young artists and carries a message.

The annual “Go Wild” youth calendar features artwork by artists 18 and under. This year’s calendar also carries the important message that it is illegal in North Carolina to capture or keep wildlife without a permit, and that “wildlife belongs in the wild.”

The 2007 “Go Wild” calendar, sponsored primarily by veterinarians across the state, includes tips on pet care and how to create backyard habitat for wildlife, where safe viewing is possible from a distance.

For teachers, the “Go Wild” calendars contain a short lesson plan on wildlife art and an invitation to submit student artworks for next year’s calendar. As a bonus, next year’s winners will also be considered for a line of holiday greeting cards to be published by the agency.

A limited number of the calendars are available for sale to the public at the agency’s online N.C. WILD Store, at www.ncwildlife.org or toll free at 1 (866) 945-3746.
