ASK THE GAME & FISH

Q. "When I go pheasant or duck hunting, what exactly do I need to leave on the birds so you know what they are?"

A. The feathered head or wing left attached to the carcass will work for both pheasants and waterfowl. With pheasants you also have the option of leaving the foot attached. Evidence of sex and species must remain attached while in the field and while the birds are being transported. The evidence of sex requirement is spelled out in both the upland and late migratory bird regulations.
