DEP Closes Boat Launch Ramp at Lake Zoar

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced today that the Lake Zoar State Boat Launch in Southbury, Connecticut will be closed to the public beginning Monday, November 27 through Friday December 1, 2006 for the expansion of the existing courtesy floating dock system. The additional floating dock will help ease the boat launching traffic during the upcoming boating season.

The boat launch was reconstructed and expanded in 2003 and accommodates 60 car/trailer units with an additional overflow parking area.

DEP Commissioner Gina McCarthy said, "The DEP wants to make boating on Lake Zoar as safe as possible for all boaters. Expanding the boat launch will provide easier accessibility and space so that boaters can have a safe and enjoyable experience there."

While the Lake Zoar boat launch is closed, boaters may visit the following boat launches, located nearby:

bulletCandlewood Lake (Lattins Cove), Danbury
bulletLake Housatonic (Indian Well State Park), Shelton
bulletLake Lillinonah, Newtown
