Neshoba County Lake Opens to Youth First
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks
announced that Neshoba County Lake will be open for a youth fishing day
September 30 from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Neshoba County Lake, a 138-acre State
Fishing Lake southeast of Philadelphia, is reopening after being closed for
renovations. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult, 21 years of
age or older, with a valid Mississippi Fishing License.
Youth may keep 50 fish of any size, including no more than five largemouth
bass.
Stocked with Florida largemouth bass, coppernose bluegill, redear, and
channel catfish, the lake will re-open to the general public Thursday,
October 19 at 7 a.m.
Persons ages 16-64 must have a valid state fishing license and those ages 16
and above must also have an annual or daily fishing permit. Licenses and
permits will be sold at the lake. A boat ramp and bank fishing will be
available.
Largemouth bass sizes 16-20 inches in length must be returned to the lake
immediately. Anglers may keep five largemouth bass, one of which may be
greater than 20 inches. Daily creel limits are 100 bream and 10 catfish.
To reach the lake, go east on Hwy 16 and turn right on Hwy 486. Go 6 miles,
turn right on County Road 1711, and follow the signs.
