Madison County Lake Temporarily Closed

The Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) announces that Madison County Lake is temporarily closed due to the resignation of Lake Manager Carole Brewer. The lake will re-open in the near future under the management of Allen Smallwood of Gurley, Ala.

Madison County Lake is located 11 miles east of Huntsville and is popular with anglers for bass, bream, catfish and rainbow trout. Trout season at the lake begins the day after Thanksgiving each year, when the fish are stocked in a 1½-acre area of the lake. Trout are also stocked in December and January. WFF anticipates the trout season will proceed without interruption. For questions about the lake closing, call the Fisheries Section at 334-242-3471.
