FIFTH ANNUAL DEAD CREEK WILDLIFE
DAY IS SET FOR OCT. 7
WATERBURY,
VT - Anyone who enjoys wildlife should plan on being in
Addison, Vermont on Saturday, October 7, for the fifth
annual Dead Creek Wildlife Day.
Activities at Dead Creek Wildlife Day are especially
for people who enjoy hunting, fishing, birdwatching, or
learning about Vermont's diverse wildlife. The location
is Vermont Fish & Wildlife's Dead Creek Wildlife
Management Area (WMA) on Route 17, about one mile west
of Route 22A.
The fun begins at 9:30 a.m. under two large tents at
the Dead Creek WMA headquarters with wildlife-related
exhibits, kids' crafts, and building bluebird boxes.
Main events run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and
include field trips, illustrated talks, a live owl
presentation, hunting dog training, fishing and hunting
tips, and much more.
All day long, there is the added bonus of seeing
hundreds of snow and Canada geese overhead as they head
south for the winter.
"We also are having a special event to pay tribute to
Senator Jeffords and his work to conserve Vermont's fish
and wildlife resources," said Dave Sausville, Dead Creek
WMA manager.
All events are free and a free shuttle bus will
provide regular access to nearby field events throughout
the day.
The festival is hosted by Vermont Fish & Wildlife
Department, Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and
Recreation, Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs,
Inc., Otter Creek Audubon Society, Addison County
Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and Addison County Chamber
of Commerce.
