Apply in September for Waterfowl Quota Hunts

Frankfort, Ky. – Waterfowl hunters may now apply for the quota waterfowl hunts at Ballard Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Ballard County and at Sloughs WMA in Henderson and Union counties during the month of September by calling 1-877-598-2401.

This is the same phone number used to apply for deer and pheasant quota hunts. The process to apply is the same. A caller may apply for a deer, pheasant or waterfowl quota hunt at the same time. A representative will assist you. Tell the representative you want to apply for Kentucky quota hunts when you call.

Hunters may find the list of choices for the waterfowl quota hunts on the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife’s website at fw.ky.gov. Click on “2006 Quota Hunts” on the homepage.

The hunts at Ballard WMA begin on December 6, 2006 and end on January 31, 2007. The hunts on Sloughs WMA begin on November 23, 2006 (Thanksgiving Day) and end also on January 31, 2006.

Both Ballard WMA and Sloughs WMA will host youth quota hunts on the first weekend in February, 2007.
There is a minimum charge of $3 to apply for the waterfowl quota hunts. A hunter can apply only once each for Ballard and Sloughs WMA.

For more information on waterfowl quota hunts, call 1-800-858-1549.
