Frankfort, Ky. – Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have provided years of support and regular visitation to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources’ Salato Wildlife Education Center. To recognize the contributions that scouts have made to outdoors education, the Salato Center is offering its own series of special events from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. Scouts and everyone else interested in the outdoors are welcome to come and enjoy the day with the Salato Center staff.

Visitors can shoot a bow, throw a tomahawk, talk with a biologist and go on a nature hike. We will have wildlife trivia and scavenger hunts. Pack a lunch and go fishing in one of our stocked lakes. Everyone is welcome. No registration is required and the program is free.

For further information about this or other events, call 1-800-852-0942, ext. 409. Learn more about the Salato Center at fw.ky.gov. The Center is located at Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Headquarters, two miles west of Frankfort on U.S. 60. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The Center is closed on Mondays and state holidays.
