The Michigan City grant workshop for the Lake
Michigan Coastal Program's 2007 funding cycle originally slated for
Aug. 24 has been rescheduled for Sept.6. The meeting will be held
from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Central time at the Michigan City Library.
Eligible projects range from protecting rare habitat to improving
access to your favorite fishing spot. Your organization may be
eligible for a grant to educate residents about the rich history of
northwest Indiana or the effects of development on the changing
landscape.
At the workshop, potential applicants can learn more about
project eligibility and receive answers to their questions. With a
new pre-application process in place this year, even veteran
grant-seekers should attend. The new procedure is designed to make
the process easier for applicants and encourage more project
submittals.
The purpose of the LMCP is to support partnerships among local,
state, and federal agencies for the protection and sustainable use
of natural and cultural resources in the Lake Michigan region.
Projects eligible for grant funding must be located entirely in
the northern portion of Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. For a
