In support of Gov. Mitch Daniels’ INShape Indiana
statewide health initiative, Indiana state parks and reservoirs will
waive entrance fees for INShape Indiana participants Sept. 9, and
offer organized walks for health beginning at 10 a.m. local time.
Community and state officials will lead many of the walks.
To be eligible for free admission to the park or reservoir of
their choice, INShape Indiana participants must download a coupon
from the INShape Indiana Web site at
www.INShape.IN.gov and
present it at the entrance gate.
“This is our third INShape Indiana DNR Day, and we are proud to
continue our support of Governor Daniels in this important effort,”
said DNR Director Kyle Hupfer. “Our Hoosier state parks and
reservoirs feature great natural resources, ranging from giant sand
dunes to deep, rocky canyons. It’s a great time to be outdoors in
Indiana and a hike is a great way to burn off a few calories.”
Free INShape T-shirts will be provided to participants on a
first-come, first-served basis. Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Indiana
State Department of Health and the Governor’s Council on Physical
Fitness are the sponsors for INShape DNR Day.
For a complete list of walk locations visit the Division of State
Parks and Reservoirs Healthy Parks-Healthy People Web site at

Gov. Daniels launched INShape Indiana in 2005, challenging
Hoosiers to make healthy choices. The free, Web-based program
provides statewide information on physical fitness activities,
nutrition, and smoking cessation. INShape Indiana is personalized
and allows participants to track progress on the Web site (www.INShape.IN.gov),
which is updated biweekly.
