COLUMBUS,
OH - The Little Miami Scenic Trail extension through the southeast
Cincinnati suburb of Terrace Park is now open seven days a week,
according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
Since June, a 2.65-mile section of trail between the Milford trailhead
and Avoca Park, south of Terrace Park, has been open on weekends only
while contractors added finishing touches to the popular recreational
facility.
“We’re pleased that this project is concluding a month ahead of
schedule,” said Scott Zody, ODNR deputy director. “And we appreciate the
patience displayed by local trail users in recent months while we put
the finishing touches on signage, fencing and other amenities along this
section.”
The main corridor of the Little Miami Scenic Trail extends more than 70
miles from Springfield in Clark County to the Little Miami Golf Center
in Hamilton County, with several spur trails connecting to communities
throughout southwest Ohio and elsewhere.
Ultimately, the goal is to extend the trail to the Cincinnati
Riverfront, allowing bicyclists, hikers, rollerbladers and other users
to travel unhindered nearly 90 miles through five counties, encompassing
some of southwest Ohio’s most scenic countryside.
More than 350,000 people traveled on the Little Miami Scenic Trail last
year.
