FWP Seeks Comment on Proposed Fishing Access Site Development at Kona
Bridge
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on a proposal to
develop and manage approximately 2.5 acres of land owned by Missoula County
as a new Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Clark Fork River west of Missoula.
The proposed Kona Bridge FAS, located just off Kona Ranch Road, would remain
under county ownership, but management authority would be transferred to
FWP. Site developments would be jointly funded by Missoula Co. and FWP.
The site is located four miles downstream from Kelly Island FAS and four
miles upstream from Deep Creek FAS.
Under the proposal, the new FAS would include the existing entrance road
plus new developments including a paved interior road and parking area,
concrete boat ramp, latrine, fencing and signing.
A draft environmental assessment (EA) has been prepared for the Kona Bridge
FAS proposal. To request a copy of the EA, contact the FWP Missoula office
at (406) 542-5500, email shrose@mt.gov, or follow the link under “Recent
Public Notices” on FWP’s web site: fwp.mt.gov.
Public comments will be accepted from Aug. 21 through 5 p.m Sep. 19, 2006
and should be directed to: Lee Bastian by phone at (406) 542-5517, by mail
to MT FWP, 3201 Spurgin Road, Missoula, MT 59804, or by email to <lbastian@mt.gov.>.
