DNR to Release More
Tagged Fish in Western Maryland as Part of the Maryland $1,000,000 Fishing
Challenge
TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
The 2nd Annual Maryland $1,000,000 Fishing Challenge: The
Return of Diamond Jim is a 13-week tournament which ends September 4.
The closing ceremony is Saturday, September 16 at 10:30 a.m., City Dock in
Annapolis. All anglers who catch qualifying tagged fish will be entered in
a drawing at the closing ceremony for five grand prizes.
The five grand prizes are:
 | A chance at $1 million cash, sponsored by Boater’s World, |
 | A 20-foot center console Sailfish 206CC motorboat and trailer
sponsored by Boater’s World, |
 | An 18-foot, 7-inch Tracker Nitro 591 motorboat and trailer sponsored
by Bass Pro Shops, and |
 | Two 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pick-up trucks sponsored by Toyota
Maryland. |
In a nostalgic flashback to the 1950s, the Fishing Challenge also
features “The Return of Diamond Jim.” Each week throughout the 13-week
tournament, a striped bass marked with a special yellow tag will be
released. The lucky angler who catches that week’s Diamond Jim will win an
instant $25,000. The first person to catch a winning Diamond Jim will also
win a pair of one-half karat (0.50) diamond earrings courtesy of Zachary’s
Jewelers in Annapolis.
