| The California Department of Fish and
Game (DFG) will increase its efforts to provide public hunting
opportunities in Southern California. Two special dove hunts are
scheduled for Sept. 2 and 9 at Potrero
Canyon, south of the City of Beaumont. Hunters shouldn’t delay:
The deadline to apply to be included in the random public drawing is
Aug. 21, 2006.
Potrero Canyon was recently acquired, and these are the first hunts
under DFG ownership. This is a very special opportunity for a really
great hunt, and no hunting fee is required.
To apply to the drawing, send a standard size postcard to: California
Department of Fish and Game, Attn: Special Dove Hunts, San Jacinto WLA,
P.O. Box 1254, Lakeview, CA 92567.
Every postcard must include applicant’s name, mailing address, day
and evening phone numbers, and 2006-2007 hunting license number.
Indicate which specific hunt you’re applying for. Each hunt date request
must be submitted on a separate postcard. Apply only once to each hunt.
Multiple applications will result in disqualification.
Successful applicants will receive a confirmation letter, other
information and directions approximately 10 days prior to the hunt.
Successful applicants are allowed to bring one guest
adult or two youth hunters. All hunters must have a current valid
hunting license with an upland game bird stamp where applicable. Hunters
must comply with all State Fish and Game regulations and laws and sign a
liability waiver (see below).
NOTICE: The Potrero Canyon site was used formerly for
manufacturing and testing of various propulsion systems and defense
products. Unexploded munitions and ordnances have been found near the
hunt site. For these reasons, the hunt site will be restricted and
closely monitored. Hunters must sign a waiver of liability before access
to the site is allowed.
