DNR to hold public meeting on proposed special muskie regulation for Lake
Miltona
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be holding a
public input meeting on a special muskellunge regulation proposal for Lake
Miltona in Douglas County. The meeting is open to the public and will follow
an open house format to allow the public to have one-on-one discussion with
Fisheries representatives.
The DNR proposes to implement a 48-inch minimum size limit for muskellunge
harvested from Lake Miltona, an increase from the current minimum size of 40
inches. This proposed regulation change would not extend to Lobster and
Oscar lakes, where the statewide 40-inch muskellunge minimum length limit
would remain in effect. The open house will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30
p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Harry Bemo-Vikings Sportsmen Club building, which is
located in the northeast corner of the Douglas County Fairgrounds. The
fairgrounds are just west of Alexandria, off the south side of County Hwy
82.
The public may also provide input during a statewide open house at the DNR
Central Office, located at 500 Lafayette Road in St. Paul, on Sept. 29 from
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For those unable to attend a public input meeting, written comments may be
sent to Dean Beck, DNR Area Fisheries Supervisor, 23070 N. Lakeshore Drive,
Glenwood, MN 56334 or dean.beck@dnr.state.mn.us.
