Frankfort, Ky. - Try your hand at shooting a bow and arrow at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources’ Salato Wildlife Education Center from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20.

Native Americans and pioneers used bows and arrows to provide food for their families, and this tradition carries on today, both in hunting and in competitive sports. Learning to shoot a bow is fun and easy, so come out and try hitting one of our archery targets.

We will provide basic instruction, bows, targets and all equipment necessary for you to try archery. The program is free and no registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

For further information about this or other events, call 1-800-852-0942, ext. 409. Learn more about upcoming events at fw.ky.gov. The Salato Wildlife Education Center is located at Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Headquarters, two miles west of Frankfort on U.S. 60. Summer hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. The Center is closed on Mondays and state holidays.
