Antelope Quotas Set
The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission recently set antelope
permit quotas for the upcoming hunting season, adopting several changes for
the 2006 hunting season.
The commission approved increases for either sex and doe/fawn hunting
licenses in a number of Montana hunting districts, with significant
increases in either sex licenses in northeastern Montana’s Region 6, where
800 licenses will be available, compared to 500 last year; and in eastern
Montana’s Region 7, where 10,000 licenses will be available, compared to
8,000 last season.
The commission also cut back doe/fawn licenses in several areas, with
signficant reductions in central Montana hunting districts 420-10, 430-00,
430-10, and 450-10.
In additon, the commission reduced the number of doe/fawn licenses from two
to one offered to successful applicants in Billings-area hunting districts
500-30 and 501-30, while boosting the offering in 560-30, 570-30, and
571-00.
