Camden State Park, in southwestern Minnesota near Marshall, will host the
third annual Camden Classic Mountain Bike Race and Ride on Aug. 19. The
public event includes riding, camaraderie, camping, food and a day of
riding.
Kids, recreational rides and cycling enthusiasts can participate in events
that include ten, 20 and 40-mile road tours, a mountain bike sport ride, a
competitive mountain bike race, bike rides for the kids, games and prizes.
Every participant receives a Camden Classic t-shirt and has a chance to win
thousands of dollars in race payouts and prizes, including a Schwinn Mesa
Mountain bike and Schwan Food Company NASCAR Gift Box. Participants can
register at the park the day of the event or register in advance at The Bike
Shop in Marshall or online at
www.camdenclassic.net. Participants can save $5 by registering by Aug.

There will be a free bike ride for children 7-years-old and under. Kids can
take their bikes and tricycles on short laps on the gravel path around the
group camp staging area beginning at 11:45 a.m. This event is not a
competitive race. All entries will receive award for their participation.
A free junior mountain bike ride for youngsters age 8-13 will be held. The
ride includes several short loops on a wooded path in the park. The ride
begins at 11:15 a.m. Although the minimum age limit for participation is
8-years old, younger, more experienced mountain bike riders may be included
in the ride with their parents' approval. This event is not a competitive
race. All entries will receive award for their participation.
The event is coordinated with the town "Sound's of Summer" weekend
celebration, Aug. 17-20, in the town of Marshall where visitors can enjoy
open-air concerts, ice cream social, art auction, festival parade, food, and
the Shades of the Past Car Show.
