St. Jones Reserve Offers Estuary Explorers Camp Programs
With a few weeks left of summer break, the Delaware National Estuarine
Research Reserve is offering a great way to get the kids outdoors with its
upcoming Estuary Explorers Camp, which features numerous hands-on activities
to explore nature, including a visit to nearby Bowers Beach and the John
Dickinson Plantation.
Summer day camp students in grades 3 through 5 will meet from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 7 through 9. Students in grades K
through 2 will meet at the same time Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 14 and 15, and
Thursday, Aug. 17. Camps are held at the St. Jones Reserve, located on Kitts
Hummock Road, east of the John Dickinson Plantation. Participants should
bring a bag lunch and wear old clothes and sneakers; no swim suits please.
Both camps are free of charge but are only open to 10 participants each.
Pre-registration is required by Thursday, Aug. 3 for grades 3 through 5.

The Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve is a partnership between
the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control
(DNREC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The
program is administered through DNREC’s Division of Soil and Water
Conservation in the Delaware Coastal Programs section.
