The NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) is pleased to announce that 2006-2007 Rifle Permits (valid for the period July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007) are now available using the DFW’s new Electronic Licensing System (IELS). Permits can be purchased now and any time during the permit year. All rifle permits must now be purchased through the IELS and the DFW will no longer accept any paper Rifle Permit applications. Permits can be purchased on our Internet license sales website or in person at any location using the IELS. Permits purchased via Internet will be mailed to customers by our vendor.

Soon, every customer who purchased a Rifle Permit for the 2005-2006 period will receive a postcard from the DFW with detailed instructions on how they may purchase their 2006-2007 Rifle Permit.

The DFW has imported information for almost every customer who purchased a 2005-2006 Rifle Permit. These customers whose 2005-2006 rifle permit record could be imported have been assigned a unique lifetime conservation ID number (CID). If your customer information was successfully transferred to the IELS, your CID will be on the postcard you receive. The postcard you receive will inform you if your 2005-2006 information could not be imported.

Permit holders whose 2005-2006 Rifle Permit record was transferred may purchase a 2006-2007 Rifle Permit by visiting our Internet license sales website at www.wildlifelicense.com/nj/ or by visiting any license agent or DFW office that is using one of the new IELS terminals. A current list of agents using the IELS is available on the Division's website at www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/agentlst.htm. Check back often as the list is updated frequently.

If your 2005-2006 Rifle Permit record could not be imported, or you did not purchase a 2005-2006 Rifle Permit, you must visit a DFW license agent or DFW office that is using the IELS to purchase your 2006-2007 Rifle Permit. Please remember to bring your Hunter Education Rifle Course completion card or a previous year’s Rifle Permit with you when you visit the license agent.

Please note that even though you may already have a CID from a previous IELS purchase (fishing license, turkey permit, etc), you cannot purchase your Rifle Permit using Internet sales website unless it is noted on the postcard you receive.
