12-Year Old Catches
Tagged Fish In The Maryland $1,000,000 Fishing Challenge
Three anglers from Pennsylvania catch tagged
fish in Maryland
ANNAPOLIS — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
Fisheries service announced today that 12-year old Kenny Harvey of
Oakland, MD is one of the l5 lucky anglers who caught tagged fish during
the second week of the 2nd Annual Maryland $1,000,000 Fishing Challenge:
The Return of Diamond Jim. This week’s catches now qualifies a total of 24
anglers to win a chance at $1 million cash, a 20-foot center console
Sailfish 206CC motorboat and trailer, an 18-foot 7-inch Tracker Nitro 591
motorboat and trailer, and two 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pick-up trucks.
Kenny Harvey was fishing with his grandfather when he caught a Rainbow
Trout in the Youghiogheny River on June 9. His mother said he skipped
basketball camp this year to learn how to fish. Kenny’s decision has paid
off as he now qualifies to win $1,000,000.
“I didn’t know what the tag on the fish was for but we were excited after
we read the tag and called the phone number,” said Kenny Harvey.
When asked what he’d do with $1,000,000, the soon to be 7th grader from
Southern Middle School said, “I’d probably, being that I’m 12 years old,
spend a little but have to save some for my future.”
