SHADY LANE FISHING DAY SET FOR SATURDAY

There will be a Kids Fishing Day at the Shady Lane Family Fishing Pond in Kalispell on June 3 rd from 9 am to noon.   The event is sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Sportsman and Ski Haus and the Boys and Girls Club of Glacier Country.  

The event will feature a fishing derby for kids age 12 and younger, a fish ID contest, door prizes, casting for hooks and bobbers and other fun activities.   All events are free of charge.   The site also has several miles of hiking trails. Some loaner fishing outfits will be available.   Anglers should access through the Old Steel Bridge Fishing Access. Contact: Jim Vashro, 751-4550.

SLOTS OPEN FOR 13 th ANNUAL FISHING DAY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ON FLATHEAD LAKE

There will be a Kids Fishing Day at the Shady Lane Family Fishing Pond in Kalispell on June 3 rd from 9 am to noon.   The event is sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Sportsman and Ski Haus and the Boys and Girls Club of Glacier Country.

The event is sponsored by the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Crossing the Barriers Committee, and the Montana Charter Boat Association.   Hidden Harbor and Marina Cay provide boat launching facilities.

  There are still slots available for anglers with disabilities, especially for anglers under 18 years of age.   To register, call FWP at 752-5501.   According to Committee Chairman Jerry Howard, plans at this year’s event include a barbeque and a lake trout fish fry.   There will also be lots of prizes.

LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER FOR HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE Slots are still open in the hunter education course for young adults 14-21 years of age that will be offered in the Kalispell area on the evenings of June 7, 8, and 9. The course is targeted towards young adults born after January 1, 1985; the minimum age to register is 14.   The course will involve home study prior to the course, and students must pass the hunter education written test on the first night of class in order to continue in the course. Students must register by Friday, June 2.

To register, stop by the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks office on North Meridian Road.   Students will pick up their course syllabus and information packet when they register.
