Frankfort, KY - Tune in for fly-fishing demystified, a trip to Lake Barkley and squirrel hunting boot camp with Host Tim Farmer’s new dog Tucker this weekend on “Kentucky Afield” television.

Viewers learn what they need to get started with an in-depth look at fly-fishing for beginners. Farmer explains the basics of equipment, casting, fly presentation and knot tying. There’s plenty to learn for both new anglers and fishing veterans who have never tried this challenging technique.

The “Kentucky Afield” crew also heads to Lake Barkley to join local angler Jack Devor in search of redear sunfish. The rain has finally subsided and water temperatures are rising, making conditions just right for a beautiful day on the water.

Finally, join Farmer’s new dog Tucker as he heads off to boot camp. Over the next 12 weeks the mountain treeing feist, named by “Kentucky Afield” viewers, will learn the ropes of squirrel hunting. Viewers will get to check in with him periodically throughout his training.

“Kentucky Afield” is a production of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is the longest continuously-running outdoor television show in the nation. “Kentucky Afield” airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time/7:30 p.m. Central time on KET affiliates. The airtime for the Sunday repeat of the show is 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central.

“Kentucky Afield” also airs Saturday at 10 a.m. on Insight Cable 5 in Northern Kentucky.
