Boggy Point Boat Ramp Temporarily Open Memorial Day Weekend

The Marine Resources Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced today that the Boggy Point boat ramp that is nearing a complete renovation will be temporarily opened Memorial Day Weekend.

The ramp area will temporarily open at 6 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2006, and close again at 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2006.  Boaters are urged to use caution and remember that this is still a construction area. The safety rail will not be in place at the edge of the parking lot, but a construction fence will mark the boundary. The wave attenuator planned for the ramp will not be in place, so boaters should watch the waves and current when approaching to pull their boats out.

The parking lot will not be lined at that time so everyone is asked to be patient and courteous and park as economically as possible. Do not park directly in front of the ramp and make sure to leave enough room for others to launch.  Finally, everyone is to understand that they are using the ramp at their own risk since it is not officially finished, but merely opened for this short period of time to help alleviate the increased need during this holiday weekend.
