5/8/2006 LARAMIE - If you were waiting until the last minute to submit your application for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Youth Conservation Camp, this is it. Applications are due May 15. Wyoming teens between the ages of 15 and 18, who want to learn more about wildlife, wildlife habitats and outdoor skills should plan to attend the week-long camp held at the base of the Wind River Mountains near Dubois. Camp begins at 10 a.m., July 30 and runs through Aug. 4. Participants enjoy outdoor studies, conservation ethics, shooting sports, fishing skills, hiking and canoeing. Each camper is required to provide his or her personal gear, including sleeping bag, hiking boots, rain gear and cool-weather clothing, but all other equipment is provided. The camp is free, but the number of participants is limited to 50, so the process can be competitive. Successful applicants will be notified by mail of their acceptance by early June. Applications are available at Game and Fish offices, on the department Web site at: http://gf.state.wy.us/services/education/youthcamp/ or by calling (800) 842-1934.(contact: Michelle Zitek (307)-745-4046) -WGFD- Click Here To Return To The Previous Page |
