Fish limits removed, temporarily,
for Fort Smith park pond
FORT
SMITH - Come catch some fish at Carol Ann Cross Pond. Please.
The fishin’ hole in Fort Smith is part of the city’s public parks, and it is
going to be renovated this summer with a new dam. That means it will be
drained. So Fort Smith officials asked, and the Arkansas Game and Fish
Commission agreed, that the restrictions and limits on keeping fish be
temporarily removed.
AGFC commissioners at their April meeting approved the request and declared
an emergency, which means the no-limit rule is effective immediately. It
will stand for 120 days, when the renovation should be complete.
Until now, Carol Ann Cross Pond had a catch-and-release rule for largemouth
bass, a limit of 25 for bream and a limit of three each for catfish and
hybrid bass.
