Catch & Release Fishery for Striped Bass to Close as Scheduled
The Striped Bass Catch and Release Fishery on the Susquehanna Flats
will close as scheduled at midnight, May 3. Recreational angler groups had
appealed to DNR’s Sportfish Advisory Commission requesting an extension;
however, due to increasing water temperatures, the fishery will close as
previously scheduled. When striped bass are caught and released into
freshwater areas above 65 degrees, mortality increases significantly.
Based upon temperature data, Conowingo Dam flow data and forecasted
weather conditions, the 65 degree threshold is projected to be exceeded
later this week.
