Shooting Showcase to be held at Ben Avery Shooting Facility March 25-26

Shooting Showcase to be held at Ben Avery Shooting Facility March 25-26 The public is invited to the Arizona Game and Fish Department's Shooting Showcase March 25-26 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix. The event is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

"The Showcase offers outdoor recreation enthusiasts and those just learning about these activities the opportunity to experience shooting sports in a safe, controlled environment," says Ed Huntsman, conservation education program manager for the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

But the event offers more than just recreational shooting activities. "We'll have a variety of educational workshops and exhibits on wildlife, fishing, hunting, and safety topics," says Huntsman.

Attendees will be able to:

	Try out the latest firearms on the shooting range.
	Experience specialty shooting disciplines (including cowboy action shooting, rifle and pistol silhouette, black powder and air gun) through demonstrations and hands-on shooting opportunities.
	Test their skills on our archery course.
	View exciting skeet shooting demonstrations by Arizona's own Emily Blount, a member of the U.S. National Shooting Team.
	Attend informative workshops on Arizona's wildlife, family fishing, venomous reptiles, hunting with bird dogs, fishing Lake Pleasant, bowfishing, critter calling, quail hunting, how to improve your big game draw odds, and tips for hunters with special needs.
	Visit the exhibitors' tent and learn about outdoor recreation-related commercial companies and nonprofit organizations.
	Visit more than 15 booths by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, including hunting and fishing simulators and exhibits on firearms safety, hunting safety, boating safety, and activities of the different wildlife branches and regional offices.

Admission and parking are free. There is a nominal charge for ammunition for those wishing to try out firearms on the range. Refreshments will be available for sale. The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is located on the northwest corner of I-17 and Carefree Highway. Take Carefree Highway west 1/2 mile to Long Shot Lane.
