Strategies
SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVA
— On March 2 and 3 representatives from state and local governments, soil
conservation districts, watershed associations and other stakeholder
groups will convene in Shepherdstown, West Virginia for the Upper Potomac
Roundtable Conference. The conference provides a venue for stakeholders to
discuss strategies to reduce local pollution impacts that will help meet
Chesapeake Bay cleanup goals in the Upper Potomac Watershed.
Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources C. Ronald Franks will join West
Virginia Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Quality Bill
Brannon, Pennsylvania Secretary of Environmental Protection Kathleen
McGinty and Virginia Secretary of Natural Resources Preston Bryant in
giving opening remarks at the Conference.

tributary strategies and the opportunities and challenges that face local
governments as the work progresses. Work sessions will focus on key issues
and involve the participants as much as possible.
In addition, speakers will describe funding opportunities and future
directions for the program. Overall, the roundtable will provide valuable
information on how local governments can prepare to meet the cleanup
goals.
